Biographies
Francesca Bastianini, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, moved to the United States in 2000 to attend Smith College, where she received her BA in Theatre and Psychology. Following her undergraduate work, Francesca earned a Masters degree in psychology while freelancing as a theatrical lighting designer for dance and theatre.

In 2010 Francesca graduated from Parsons the New School for Design with an MFA in Lighting Design. She completed a thesis that focused on creating lighting solutions for underserved populations. While at Parsons, Francesca interned with Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design and Renfro Design Group.

Drawing on her background in theatre and psychology, Francesca’s design work
is attentive to people’s interaction with space, considering both an individual’s well-being and their aesthetic experience.

Francesca has been active as part of the NYC student chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society. She is also a design member of the IALD and a member of the Designers/Lighting Forum. She joined the Lumen Architecture team in 2010.
